    Traditions & lore

What makes Suzuka International Racing Course feel like more than another race weekend.

    The figure-8 layout

Suzuka is the only circuit on the F1 calendar with a figure-8 layout — the back straight passes over the front straight on a bridge. The crossover gives the track a balance of high-speed, medium-speed and technical sections rarely matched anywhere else.

    130R

A high-speed left-hander on the run back to the chicane, named for its 130-metre radius. Once a flat-out corner that defined the bravest qualifying laps; modern downforce levels make it a momentum corner but it still rewards commitment.

    The championship decider

Suzuka's traditional autumn slot has made it the venue for some of F1's most famous championship-deciding races — the Senna–Prost collisions of 1989 and 1990, Schumacher's 2000 title, Hamilton's 2014 wet-race victory.
