What makes Hungaroring feel like more than another race weekend.
The 1986 Hungarian Grand Prix was the first F1 World Championship race held in a Soviet-bloc country. Bernie Ecclestone's deal with the Hungarian government to bring F1 to Budapest was a Cold War diplomatic achievement as much as a sporting one.
The Hungaroring is a flowing, twisty, narrow circuit with very few overtaking opportunities — earning a long-standing comparison to Monaco. Pole position has converted to victory more often here than at almost any other circuit on the calendar.
